Mandela Day is celebrated on 18th July every year and is a day to commemorate one of the twentieth-century's greatest individuals and to reflect on his legacy and example. The Nelson Mandela Foundation intends for people to take positive action in their local communities by working on one of these following areas:

• Education and literacy

• Food and nutrition

• Shelter

• Sanitation

• Active citizenship.

 

This resource focuses on the film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom which is an adaptation of Nelson Mandela's autobiography of the same title and available to stream for free to UK educators on Into Film+ www.intofilm.org/films/17962
