Synopsis

The Okavango River runs from the Angolan highlands into Botswana, in southern Africa. Here, it forms an inland delta, one of the few of its kind as it doesn’t flow into a sea or ocean, providing a vital water source for millions of people, elephants, lions, and birds. But the once pristine wilderness is under threat due to climate change and human activities. This documentary follows an ambitious 4-month expedition to explore this extraordinary ecosystem. The team is led by Steve, a passionate conservation biologist, who is joined by a river bushman worried about losing his past and a young scientist uncertain of her future. From stunning landscapes to close encounters with wildlife, the documentary captures the beauty and fragility of this unique environment. Into the Okavango is a call to action, highlighting the urgent need for conservation and global awareness to preserve this wetland for future generations.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
