Inside Out 2 returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley. Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust aren't sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up, and it looks like she's not alone. Join familiar characters from the award-winning first film as they learn to navigate change and make room for new emotions in this coming-of-age adventure sequel!
Inside Out 2: Changes and Challenges is a learning sequence for KS1 and KS2 (or equivalent). This resource draws on the film to provide teachers with a new yet recognisable stimulus to engage students in curricular topics across PSHE, RSE, science and English.

Educators can use our interactive tools to explore the characteristics of different emotions with their class and help students build a wider vocabulary to articulate them accurately.
Learners will be encouraged to help Riley through the changes and challenges that she is facing. They will consider how they can use these strategies to support themselves and others when navigating new or difficult emotions like those depicted in the film.
Our new resource is adaptable to the needs of each KS1 or KS2 class. Teachers can use the resource in its entirety or can shorten or extend activities and home learning exercises.

Challenge your class to design and write a brief description of an Emotion that doesn’t already exist in the film. Suggestions featured in our Lesson Plan include Excitement, Surprise, Love and more.

Maya Hawke lends her voice to Anxiety, alongside Amy Poehler as the voice of Joy. The voice cast also includes Lewis Black, Phyllis Smith, Tony Hale, Liza Lapira, Ayo Edebiri, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Paul Walter Hauser, Kensington Tallman, Lilimar, Diane Lane, Kyle MacLachlan, Sumayyah Nuriddin-Green, Grace Lu and Yvette Nicole Brown.
